About the role:

We are looking for an expert in financial crime, ideally gained within a fintech industry; someone with an exceptionally broad and detailed portfolio of skills in onboarding, transaction monitoring, and investigations. Leading a team of 8-10 financial crime analysts, reporting to the business' VP of Risk & Compliance/MLRO, the ideal candidate will have previous people management experience and be comfortable with training, coaching, and development. The role will also encompass quality reviews, performance development, and innovations in automation and workflow improvements.

What you'll be doing:
  1. Responsible for the full customer onboarding journey via an effective workflow including KYC due diligence, risk assessment, risk classification, and investigations.
  2. Manage the Sanctions/PEP/Adverse Media screening program.
  3. Monitor payments transactions (Card, Bank, etc.) for suspicious activity (Fraud, AML, TF).
  4. Work toward a culture of continuous improvement; reviewing and improving processes and workflows throughout the team.
  5. Support MLRO in the preparation of data for reports shared both internally and externally.
  6. Assess, review, create, and deliver internal training programmes as part of induction and ongoing personal development for the team.
  7. Manage a team of analysts in their performance, training, and development.
What we are looking for:
  1. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a KYC/AML environment.
  2. Successful track record in people management (including coaching and development).
  3. Knowledge of payments, risks, and UK/EU regulations (4/5MLD, JMLSG, FCA Handbook SYSC).
  4. Proven experience in understanding and interpreting regulation within the payment industry and implementing solutions to address regulatory requirements.
  5. Deep experience in monitoring and developing compliance monitoring programs and techniques.
  6. Technical and practical expertise in money laundering & terrorist financing regulations.
  7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and spoken).
  8. A self-starter, always seeking ways to improve.
  9. Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
