The Tax Manager leads the corporate tax function of the bank including Federal and State tax filings. Manages relationships, work product, and effectiveness of third-party tax preparers and consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviews tax liability calculations, payments, and filings related to Federal, State and Local Income, Franchise, Property, and Sales/Use tax calculations prepared by outside tax consulting firms and/or other employees.
Leads and manages tax audits; maintains tax filings and supporting documents.
Research and summarize various state tax issues.
Manages outside tax firms.
Stays abreast of tax developments affecting the Company's tax positions.
Competencies Required:
Proven ability to manage and oversee third party relationships.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to independently research, read, and interpret specialized tax regulations, technical reports, and legal documents.
Solid technology abilities, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, tax preparation, and financial software applications.
Strong knowledge pertaining to corporate taxation laws, procedures, rules and regulations.
Strategic and problem-solving mindset with developed analytical ability.
Proven ability to prioritize and manage workload and to instill a sense of urgency in others as necessary to meet deadlines.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external parties.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
5+ years tax experience required.
Supervisory experience preferred
Formal Education & Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Master's degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent preferred.
Work Status:
Full-time.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None.
Travel:
0 - 10% - Negligible amount of travel expected.
Working Conditions:
Conditions involve lifting no more than ten pounds, sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, moving, or standing for brief periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying articles like files, ledgers, folders, etc.
