Tax Manager
Job Description & Responsibilities
The Tax Manager will oversee domestic and international tax compliance and reporting for a global private equity firm. This role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, implementing best practices, and optimizing tax processes. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing tax data for federal and state filings, including Schedule K-1s and tax returns.
- Analyzing financial information from portfolio companies to determine appropriate tax treatment.
- Reviewing partnership income allocations and coordinating with tax advisors to ensure accurate transaction reporting.
- Researching and assessing tax treatment for complex domestic and international tax matters.
- Managing federal and state withholding tax obligations for various investor types, including nonresidents, foreign investors, and tax-exempt entities.
- Addressing investor tax inquiries and handling ad-hoc tax-related requests.
- Reviewing tax provisions for corporate blockers.
- Collaborating with finance teams and liaising with other business units as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced in tax compliance within the investment sector. Key qualifications include:
- 6+ years of experience in tax compliance, preferably within a Big 4 firm or private equity, investment partnerships, or fund-of-funds environment.
- CPA certification or an advanced degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong expertise in partnership taxation and related regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and work with complex financial data.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
