Work Model: HYBRID - Only 4 days in the office per week

Your Opportunity as a Tax Director:

Are you ready to lead and make an impact in one of the Southeast's premier public accounting firms? As Tax Director, you'll oversee high-level tax projects, manage client relationships, and inspire a talented tax team. If you're passionate about delivering exceptional client service, mentoring others, and staying ahead in tax compliance and strategy, this is the role for you.

What You'll Do:

  • Technical Excellence: Review and approve complex tax returns, while handling governmental tax examinations.
  • Tax Compliance Mastery: Ensure federal and state tax filings are timely and accurate, adhering to all regulations.
  • Research & Strategy: Lead tax research initiatives, ensuring quality and efficiency in return preparation.
  • Client Engagement: Be a trusted advisor in client meetings, offering insights on tax planning and addressing complex tax issues.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train tax preparers, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Client Service Leadership: Take responsibility for high-value client service as delegated by firm Partners.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Communicate tax law updates and significant developments to both clients and firm personnel.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with the Audit team on tax matters for larger clients.

What You Bring:

  • Credentials: CPA license (active and in good standing).
  • Experience:
  • 8+ years in public accounting with a focus on tax compliance and research.
  • 2+ years representing clients before taxing authorities.
  • 1+ year managing and mentoring tax preparers.
  • Specialization: Expertise in construction, manufacturing, general tax, and high-net-worth clients is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting required; Master's in Taxation preferred.
  • Professional Commitment: 40 hours of continuing education annually and AICPA membership.
  • Skills: Proficiency in tax automation and workflow tools (CCH ProSystem fx Tax preferred), strong client service orientation, exceptional communication skills, and a creative problem-solving mindset.
