Position: We are currently seeking an experienced tax preparer to work in our office, with some work-at-home flexibility. We'd also consider a completely remote employee for the right person. The role requires preparing and analyzing individual and/or business tax returns as well as providing advice and planning to clients. Hours and days are flexible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal tax forms 1040 and/or 1120S, as well as state income tax returns.
- 1120S returns requires reviewing client financial statements, reconciling accounts as needed, preparing Trial Balances and proposing AJE's.
- Prepare accurate and clear supporting workpapers, using our templates.
- Communicate with clients via email or phone to gather necessary information and understand their circumstances.
- Work on special projects such as amended returns, IRS correspondence, and 1041 forms.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of client information.
Requirements:
- Preferably minimum of 3 years' experience preparing individual and/or business taxes.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Experience with UltraTax, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and SurePrep is a plus.
- CPA, EA, or AFSP certification is a plus.
Schedule and Hours:
- Part-time with a potential progression to full-time; opportunities for advancement.
- Peak season: February 15th through April 15th and August 15th - October 15th. We require a minimum of 20 hours/week during peak season.
