Title: Systems & Network Engineer
Reports to: Director of IT
Summary of Position: The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the performance, effectiveness, and reliability of IT systems and services critical to the organization's success. This is a hands-on position, for an experienced candidate who will play a key role in ensuring that Blach can continue to function at a high level and evolve with agility.
Typical Duties:
- Quarterly and annual reporting on status of IT infrastructure, incident preparedness, and roadmap to achieve objectives
- Administer IT systems and services at offices, jobsites, and hybrid-cloud datacenter infrastructure, and offer recommendations for continuous improvement
- Periodically validate backup integrity and viability of business continuity plans
- Travel to jobsites for new deployments of internet service, firewalls, access points, etc.
- Respond to any incidents that disrupt access to critical business applications
- Ensure users have access to the information and tools they need across dial-in and site-to-site VPNs, and an evolving network topology
- Engage with IT support team daily, and assist with challenging, systemic, or urgent incidents
- Work with vendors, consultants, partners and colleagues on high-level objectives
- Design, build, and maintain defensible information systems and architectures
- Cross-train and collaborate with IT colleagues, project teams, and departments across the organization
Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 -5 years of relevant experience
- Experience administering workstation, server, hypervisor, networking, and enterprise storage systems required
- Oracle-based ERP, next-gen firewall, email security, or open networking experience a plus
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT fundamentals, and interest in emerging technologies
- Ability to proactively monitor and address performance gaps and vulnerabilities
- Ability to productively automate repetitive or time-sensitive tasks via scripts or automation/orchestration platforms
- Driven to learn, grow, and adapt continuously
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, and ability to remain solutions oriented under pressure
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., and work off-hours and overtime as needed for critical events
- Thoroughly considers the potential impact of actions performed as an administrator, and exercises due caution
- Excellent documentation habits, and well-versed in Microsoft Office applications as well as technical documentation tools (knowledgebases, credential managers, network diagrams, etc.)

Position Status: Full-time, regular business hours, non-exempt
