Linux Systems Engineer

Experienced Linux Systems Engineer
5+ years of experience Linux and Automation using Python and Bash Scripting
Cloud experience is a huge plus architecting, implementing, and supporting large infrastructures.
5+ years extensive experience with VMware vSphere and vCenter administration, virtual machines, networking, and storage.
5+ years of Intermediate to senior level experience with Linux administration and engineering.
5+ years Linux shell scripting and automation tools.
Strong understanding of infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance troubleshooting.
Strong communication skills, leadership qualities, with an innovative mindset.
Expert-level knowledge of core Windows Server services including AD DS, DNS, DHCP, GP, and IIS.
Working knowledge of VAST Data, Pure Storage, and Dell Data Domain systems.
Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure management.
Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools such as CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git, and Docker.
Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other cybersecurity frameworks.
Demonstrated experience with Windows PowerShell automation and Desired State Configuration.
DUTIES:
Design, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and related components.
Manage, create golden images, and utilize automation to maintain Windows and Linux servers, both physical and virtual.
Design, implement, and optimize Linux server environments across physical and virtual infrastructures, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and enterprise-level security standards.
Implement and manage storage area networks (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS) solutions.
Develop and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
Proactively monitor system performance and capacity, and implement optimizations as needed. Monitor the environment for performance metrics and alerts, identify bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions.
Collaborate with other IT team members on infrastructure projects and initiatives using effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
Apply DISA STIGs to ensure compliance with security standards and policies across all cloud and containerized environments.
Ensure system designs adhere to DoD security standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Define and execute test plans to verify system functionality against requirements and validate overall system performance.
