This job may be filled with a Systems Engineer, Level 3, Level 4 or a Senior Systems Engineer, Level 5, depending on experience level. The Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting A52 efforts with the Tomahawk Weapon System (TWS). They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by understanding and assessing the impacts of emerging architectures on TWS design. This position will directly impact San Diego-based Third Fleet through continuous and ever-changing needs of TWS in exercise and live operations. Core Functions/Job Duties Coordinate with Fleet stakeholders, active participation in meetings, development of briefs, contributing to test planning (possibly test execution), translating Fleet needs into engineering requirements, and any other tasking that A52 deems appropriate. Able to perform the following independently, under minimum supervision: Participate in and lead key activities, when needed, across all phases-from planning and requirements through implementation, operation, and support. Lead the designing, development, testing, and implementation of computer systems, including hardware, software, and networking components. Integrate multiple systems, hardware, and software components to ensure seamless functionality. Troubleshoot and debug complex system issues (bugs), as needed. Work closely with cross- functional teams, including software development, test/QA, technical support, technical writing, system architects, configuration management, and all levels of program management. Develop and maintain accurate and up to date documentation of system designs, System Requirement Document (SRD), System Requirement Specification (SRS), software user manuals, configurations, requirement traceability matrices, risk assessments, System Engineering Management Plan, Interface control documents, version description documents, fault tree assessments. Participate in testing/QA activities to ensure systems to ensure systems meet requirements as expected. Identify potential risks, participates in risk mitigation planning, and manages changes to system baselines throughout the lifecycle. Analyze system performance and user feedback post-deployment, recommending and implementing improvements for future iterations. Research and systems engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices; stay updated on industry trends. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership. Basic Skills Possess a deep understanding of: Tomahawk Weapon Systems Networking concepts and protocols One or more programming languages IEEE standards, systems integration and design principles Requirement management and system architecture design Model-based system engineering (MBSE) tools, as needed Database and Test Management Tools Travel: Up to 25% of the time Physical Requirements: May be expected to lift up to 25 lbs Frequent use of keyboard and typing Frequent sitting and standing Education: BS in STEM related field Required Certifications: INCOSE ASEP (Associate) Certification Preferred Pay Range: $120,000.00 to $170,000.00 annually, DOE U.S. Citizenship is required Security Clearance: Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
