Systems Engineer with Security Clearance

Systems Engineer - STAR 1912.01.01 Country Intelligence Group is seeking a Full-Time Systems Engineer to support our client in modernizing and integrating large-scale, cloud-based data systems. The selected candidate will serve as a technical liaison among system engineers, data scientists, analysts, and non-technical stakeholders to ensure aligned, mission-driven solutions. Key responsibilities include working with AWS cloud services (including EMR and Databricks), SQL database structures, and executing large-scale data migrations. The role also involves optimizing database architecture and performance, implementing DevSecOps practices, and building CI/CD pipelines using Python, Bash, and Terraform. Preferred candidates will have experience with Apache Spark, Apache Nifi, data governance, and ETL standardization. Familiarity with Glue, Hive, and Iceberg or similar technologies is a plus. Tasks Performed:
• Bridge communication between technical staff and non-technical stakeholders.
• Design and manage AWS-based storage and compute environments.
• Design schemas, map data between systems, and optimize queries.
• Plan and execute large-scale data migrations.
• Improve database performance through architecture and tuning.
• Create and maintain data flows using ETL tools like Apache Nifi.
• Manage infrastructure as code using Python, Bash, and Terraform.
• Integrate security into development and deployment workflows.
• Build and support automated CI/CD pipelines. Education, Experience and Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience serving as a technical liaison between system engineers, data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and non-technical managers and personnel.
• Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud services, including long-term storage options, and cloud-based database services such as Databricks or Elastic MapReduce.
• Demonstrated experience with SQL database structures and mapping between SQL databases.

• Demonstrated experience in large-scale data migration efforts.
• Demonstrated experience with database architecture, performance design methodologies, and system-tuning recommendations. Preference for familiarity with Glue, Hive, and Iceberg or similar.
• Demonstrated experience with Python, Bash, and Terraform.
• Demonstrated experience with DevSecOps solutions and tools.
• Demonstrated experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using industry standard process.
• Demonstrated experience with Data Quality and Data Governance concepts and experience. (Preferred)
• Demonstrated experience maintaining, supporting, and improving the ETL process through the implementation and standardization of data flows with Apache Nifi and other ETL tools. (Preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with Apache Spark. (Preferred) Other Job Requirements:
