Description Markon is seeking Systems Engineers to support our NRO client at multiple locations across the US. Responsibilities The ideal Systems Engineer will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks: Serve as a technical expert on complex and critical payload processing systems and processes.
Provide expert advice and technical evaluations on engineering approaches and implementation strategies.
Develop, document, and trace functional and interface requirements for OSL missions.
Coordinate with external entities to resolve integration and requirements issues.
Develop and implement verification and validation (V&V) processes.
Identify risks and opportunities; define mitigation strategies and implementation milestones.
Coordinate across OSL divisions to identify new requirements and emerging risks, and recommend strategic plans of action.
Monitor and assess payload processing studies; provide timely, relevant recommendations to the government.
Maintain familiarity with the NRO strategic roadmap and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to OSL programs.
Manage project approval and closure processes.
Lead root cause analysis efforts and oversee closure for all critical non-conformances.
Evaluate payload processing specifications and assess verification data/actions.
Identify elevated risk areas in payload processing and propose mitigations.
Assess system performance and analyze data related to O&M and non-conformances to support mission readiness.
Interface with mission stakeholders including launch vehicle and satellite contractors, external agencies, and other partners.
Draft technical briefings and support the OSL during meetings, reviews, and readiness assessments.
Manage Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), including setting entrance/exit criteria and tracking action items.
Support both technical and programmatic meetings. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree
2-10+ years of experience in systems engineering or payload processing roles
Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes and risk management
Experience with verification and validation methodologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in briefing technical information
Ability to interface with diverse stakeholders, including government and contractors
Desired: Experience supporting the NRO or related Intelligence Community organizations
Familiarity with OSL strategic goals and the NRO strategic roadmap
Hands-on experience with mission readiness and Engineering Review Boards (ERBs)
Proven ability to lead root cause analyses and manage non-conformance closure
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams in high-stakes environments Salary Range USD $140,000.00 - USD $230,000.00 /Yr. The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
