The Digital Modernization sector within Leidos is seeking a talented Systems Engineer/Architect Specialist for the Global Solution Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This exciting opportunity encompasses the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) under the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in collaboration with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). You will play a key role in advancing DISA's operational mission through innovative solutions.

This position is virtual; candidates must reside within driving distance of Fort Meade, MD or Scott AFB, IL, as on-site attendance may be required.

As a Systems Engineer/Architect Specialist, you will lead the functional and technical design of cutting-edge solutions within the Global Management System (GMS) Innovations portfolio. In this role, you will spearhead the technical design of solution components and formulate system and technical requirements to foster customer-facing capabilities in a Data-Driven, AI-ready, cloud-based environment. You will be an integral part of a dynamic, Agile team focused on creating innovative solution designs and managing requirements across multiple GMS Innovation portfolios.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Analyzing current processes and designing innovative technical solutions to enhance the reliability, security, performance, and agility of the network.
  • Authoring functional, technical, performance, security, and availability requirements through an ongoing innovation process, leveraging metrics to demonstrate success.
  • Collaborating with a dedicated team to ensure successful testing and verification of new capabilities prior to deployment.
  • Employing strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and creativity to achieve project goals.
  • Developing technical approaches and systems that align with business needs while overseeing their implementation across the lifecycle.
  • Providing valuable recommendations and prototypes for various solutions, participating in technology selection, and analyzing environmental constraints.
  • Creating solution roadmaps, serving as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working with process owners, technical leads, and stakeholders to refine solution designs and approaches.
  • Utilizing systems engineering principles and tools for thorough analysis, problem diagnosis, and solution design across various activities.
  • Building strong collaborations with End Users, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Testers, Cloud Engineers, and other professionals.
  • Defining processes for technical platforms and ensuring compatibility between hardware and software.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of comprehensive systems engineering documentation.
  • Leading the development of business process maps using standardized methodologies.
  • Monitoring and reporting on technical variances, resolving issues that may affect product delivery.
  • Adapting quickly to customer environments and processes.
  • Supporting User Acceptance Testing strategies, plans, and scripts for deployment.
  • Providing leadership in collaborative problem-solving and support for project lifecycle challenges.
  • Contributing to business proposal responses as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/education, with 8+ years of professional experience or 6+ years with a related master's degree.
  • Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification obtained within 14 days of start date.
  • Proven experience in leading solution design and architecture for complex cloud-based systems.
  • Expertise in delivering data-driven operational capabilities within a DoD environment.
  • Experience with process mapping and systems engineering principles.
  • 4+ years in systems engineering, including requirements traceability and software documentation.
  • Proficiency with Linux OS and related commands.
  • Familiarity with web services APIs, particularly REST.
  • Demonstrated experience in project task dependencies and risk identification/mitigation.
  • Expertise in project management and tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Git.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • A proactive approach to prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel periodically as needed.
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-discipline teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and enterprise software implementations.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
  • Experience with big data applications and AI capability development.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as Kafka, Elastic, Spark, and NiFi.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment, ITIL standards, and DevOps/DevSecOps practices.
  • AWS certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in managing geographically dispersed teams.

Pay Range: $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
