Description Background Information: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Systems/Cyber Engineer to be based in our Arlington, VA office. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. Overview: IDT is seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer with a particular focus in Cybersecurity activities in support of various projects. This individual will primarily be focused on the technical details and documentation for current and future Government Authorization To Operate (ATO) Efforts. In addition, this individual would also help in the development of standardized images/processes/configurations for the deployment and maintain of assets which will be both local and in remote locations. This role requires full-time presence on-site at our Arlington, VA office. All applicants must currently possess an active U.S. Security Clearance. Responsibilities Include: Interact with technical team members from multiple organizations in a team environment Perform requirements analysis, translating business need into IT resource specifications Developing, designing, documenting, and standardizing configurations for server/networking devices deployed locally and remote Developing patching processes for computing devices that are in air gapped environments and executing on those processes within the team Managing Government-issued ATOs from a technical perspective Supporting Government ATOs with documentation of firmware/software/hardware versions for all systems under our control. Addressing POAM items as part of a time in support of our deployed and remote systems Contribute to improvement of administrative and security postures within various aspects of the systems that IDT supports. Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant field of Engineering or equivalent full-time professional experience Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant technology field required Required Skills: Experience with physical server installation/administration Networking experience - TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, Switching, Routing, VLANs Experience creating and updating Access Control Lists and other forms of network filters Strong Understanding of Hardening and Troubleshooting various Windows and Red Hat based Operating Systems Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environment Strong Documentation skills to keep accurate records of systems and their configuration Familiarity with DISA STIG or other Risk Management Framework Strong Understanding of Virtualization concepts Security+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification Ability to travel up to 25% of the time Preferred Skills: Experience working with networking within a tactical system Experience with Windows Group Policy Development and Implementation Experience with Security Enhanced Linux Experience with implementing firewall rules using Windows Firewall and Linux firewalld Experience troubleshooting issues of both a software and/or a hardware nature Experience developing/maintaining network architectures that are designed for redundancy Networking protocol experience (802.11, TCP, UDP, ICMP) and troubleshooting network related issues at a physical and operating system level. Experience with Bash and/or C shell scripting a plus Experience with Cisco Networking Technologies Experience with Ruckus-based Network Devices a plus Experience with VMWare NSX-T is a plus Experience with Ansible, PowerShell, Chef, Salt, Python, or Puppet experience is a plus Experience with Cross Domain Solutions is a plus Competencies: Ability to create and employ requirements and specifications during development Desire to stay current with industry trends and best practices Excellence in technical oral and written communication with peers and non-technical cohorts Be capable of working independently, but thrive in a team environment Capable of finding creative solutions to difficult problems Solid analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive Pay Range : $114,000 - $184,000 or $135,000 - $231,000 This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels.
