Description

In close cooperation with engineering colleagues, company sales staff, international headquarters and third-party suppliers,reviewplans and customer specifications to organize the application engineering work necessary for the proposal and sale of automation systems. Provide solutions to customers' automation needs to complement MULTIVAC's packaging capabilities while helping to avoid taking on unacceptable commercial risk.

Research and acquire technical expertise and utilize it in the sales effort to assist with closing new business opportunities. Learn, build upon, and master the competencies necessary for managing a well-rounded sales experience.

This position will travel up to 20% of the time. Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate sales team and customer schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Automation Sales Engineers and Regional Sales Managers to clarify customer requirements and document MULTIVAC's best customer line solution. Process assigned RFQs ("Request for Quotation") supported by Sales provided customer requirement documentation and determine best course of action to complete as correctly and as quickly as possible; ensuring appropriate gross margins are maintained. Consult as necessary with other Application Engineers, international parent company, Sales Managers, other Engineering groups, Project Management, Procurement, and customer.
  • Responsible for the technical efficacy of a systems/line solution sales project from RFQ to shipment. Document product offering in RFQ and final sales proposal/quotation, participate in order clarification with Order Processor and work with parent company and/or other Engineering groups to address follow-up technical questions/concerns.
  • Collaborate with Sales Directors, Sales Managers, Customer Service, Sales Administration, parent company, etc. in identifying technical features and capabilities relative to MULTIVAC products and services which will bring additional value to customers.
  • When requested, participate in sales calls with Sales Managers to provide technical support in their consulting and selling efforts with customers.
  • Participate in customer demonstrations and/or customer visits in Kansas City when requested.
  • Assist with initial pre-quote project development as time allows.
  • Assist in the product offering/technical training of Sales associates as requested.
  • When appropriate, travel to the MULTIVAC factory when necessary to keep current with new product offerings and processes and to build strong relationships with parent company colleagues in the Sales Support, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments.
  • Stay current with new applications in the USA and worldwide; and communicate new applications to the Application Engineering team.
  • Attend and participate in trade shows, sales meetings, and other company specified activities as requested.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field and five years technical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong technical background and expertise with creating equipment application sales proposals and ability to discuss complex technical requirements OR two years of experience directly with MULTIVAC. CRM and SAP preferred.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, as well as design, CAD, project management, and database software applications.

Certificates and Licenses:
Current valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel.
