Systems Analyst, Business Information About this opportunity As a member of the Business Information team, the Systems Analyst, BI will play an important business facing role by being a central point of contact. The Systems Analyst, BI will partner closely with IT to ensure that reports and data analysis get constructed based on business requests. Key responsibilities include learning the business requirements and building reports within the available reporting platforms (Excel, Power BI, MicroStrategy). S/He will be presented with a business need or problem and have an opportunity to work with a dynamic team to arrive at a solution, ensuring successful delivery of the solution back to the business community. Areas of focus include analytical thinking, technical design, report building, retail knowledge, and user support.
The base salary/pay range for this role is $75,000 - $87,000. The base salary/pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
What you will do and what you will learn - Requirement Gathering and Data Validation
- Analyze business objectives of the stakeholder and develop solutions to address their business needs
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define the project phase plans
- Document functional and other requirements based on customer or business partner feedback on moderately complex projects.
- Collect and consolidate data from responsible parties to be used for reporting and dashboard creation.
- Write queries (SQL, etc) to research and understand data structure.
- Manage issue escalation and resolution during the data validation phase.
- Report Development and Delivery
- Develop an understanding of strengths/limitations of various tools and technologies available. Suggest alternate methods of data presentation.
- Leverage the available reporting tools (PowerBI, MicroStrategy, Excel, etc.) to create reports, confirm the data integrity via thorough testing.
- Align on the report delivery strategy and ensure the delivery per SLA.
- Support the pilot effort of new reports and dashboard prior to the deployment and work with IT to incorporate their feedback into the final version of the deliverable.
- Support deployment effort, collect user feedback and provide user support as needed.
What you need to be successful - Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Business, Economics, Finance or Computer Science, or an equivalent diploma
- 3-5 years' experience in report building, or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in Excel and other reporting tools
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong understanding of productivity suite software (i.e. Microsoft Office)
- Ability to create simple to complex analytical solutions
- Ability to take an abstract analytical problem and break it down into actionable tasks
- Ability to follow established practices, policies and procedures
- Ability to build stable working relationships
- Retail business knowledge preferred
- Proficiency in SQL, Data Modeling, Power BI or MicroStrategy preferred
