A little more about your role
The purpose of this role is to support the Business Rates Team, ensuring it is fit for purpose and fully future-proofed. You will oversee two team members, collaborate with the wider Rating team to identify improvements and developments needed for the system, and work towards making it accessible to clients and market-leading. The role is heavily data-driven, requiring a good understanding of the Rating business, database back-end, and the ability to provide technical and strategic advice. You will also be responsible for developing specifications and recommendations for the Operations Board.
The role covers the following areas:
- Maintaining and developing the GLHIMS database within the GL Hearn business, working with colleagues and external providers to ensure system suitability.
- Collaborating with valuers to identify requirements for system development, aligned with client and VOA (Valuation Office Agency) needs.
- Supporting the Operations Board by identifying strategies for GLHIMS and other databases going forward.
The activities include:
- Internal Collaboration: Working with various teams, including those in WSP and the Rating team, to coordinate system delivery.
- Reporting and Analysis: Working with valuers to identify process changes for clients and VOA compliance, staying updated on legislation, regulations, and industry trends, and reporting progress to valuers and the Ops Board.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
- Practical development and SQL experience, with solid knowledge of Business Rates.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of analyzing market trends, financial data, and industry insights to inform strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- A results-oriented mindset with a proven track record of meeting targets and driving revenue growth.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with systems for pipeline management and reporting.
