Position: System Analyst/Administrator

Location: Raleigh, NC

Duration: 12 Months


Job Summary: Our client, one of the largest generation and transmission cooperatives in the nation, is seeking a System Analyst on the staff of the Control Systems department within BITS. This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining client's DERMS. This entry-level position involves assisting with troubleshooting, system enhancements, data analysis, and integration tasks, including incorporating new DER/DR resources and interfacing with other utility control systems, such as SCADA.


Work Experience: A preferred candidate should have power/energy industry experience in engineering, operations, DER/DR, SCADA operations or another related field. Additional experience will be considered.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed technical knowledge of client's DERMS, including an understanding of the core design, database structure, all current and upcoming integrations and functionality, and use cases
  • Provides operational support of DERMS applications to ensure system uptime, optimum performance, efficient upgrades and patching, and overall system security.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional teams to support Client's Distribution Operators (DO)
  • Manage/develop program management tools and reporting mechanisms to provide the member cooperatives and client internal customers appropriate and accurate information in support of DR and DER programs
  • Support the integration of Program Management initiatives from a DR/DER perspective (current and new technologies)
  • Support DERMS project management, including (but not limited to) developing agendas for rotating meetings, tracking and reporting on actions and milestones, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders for status updates, and facilitating/leading meetings
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Project Manager

Job Knowledge: The candidate should have a good working knowledge of the power/energy industry. Knowledge in the areas of distribution operations, SCADA, distributed generation, and metering are desirable. A strong candidate will also have knowledge of various communication technologies, databases, query languages, and other applicable information technology software and hardware. Experience supporting a project team is strongly desired.


Abilities and Skills:

  • Analytical mindset with a desire to problem solve
  • Self-directed and able to be responsible for a project or task from start to finish
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to develop presentations and reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI and/or Python is desired

Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, economics or other analytically intensive equivalent is required (sufficient work experience in the energy arena can supplement a degree of lessor analytical intensity
