Job Title: Systems Administrator Location: Remote (EST Hours) Employment Type: Full-Time Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance Required Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced System Administrator with expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.x/8.x, Windows Server 2016, and AWS cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, PKI implementation, DoD STIG/SCAP compliance, and AWS resource management. This remote role requires working EST hours to maintain secure, high-performance systems in a DoD environment, with a focus on automation, security, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: System Administration: Manage and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.x/8.x and Windows Server 2016 environments, ensuring system availability, performance, and security. Configure and troubleshoot SELinux, FApolicy, and bash shell scripting to support system automation and security policies. Apply DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) standards to RHEL and Windows systems. PKI Implementation: Implement and manage DoD/DISA Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) at the OS level (RHEL and Windows) and application level (Oracle). Apply SSL/PKI certificates to servers and applications using standard OS utilities and Oracle tools. Troubleshoot and resolve PKI-related issues to ensure secure communications. AWS Cloud Management: Administer AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, CloudWatch for performance monitoring, snapshots, and recovery processes. Manage instance and volume configurations, resource tracking, and usage optimization. Ensure secure and efficient operation of cloud-based systems in compliance with organizational policies. Security and Compliance: Ensure systems adhere to DoD STIG/SCAP requirements, performing regular audits and remediation. Maintain up-to-date documentation for system configurations, security policies, and compliance measures. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support application deployment, system integration, and incident resolution. Provide technical expertise and guidance on system administration best practices. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Active DoD Secret Clearance. 5+ years of system administration experience with RHEL 7.x/8.x and Windows Server 2016. Working knowledge of DoD STIG/SCAP compliance and implementation for RHEL and Windows. Experience with DoD/DISA PKI at the OS (RHEL/Windows) and Oracle application levels. Proficiency in AWS services, including EC2, CloudWatch, snapshots, instance/volume management, and resource tracking. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in high-security environments. MUST HAVE: Windows and Linux certifications Preferred Qualifications: Advanced experience with SELinux, FApolicy, and bash shell scripting. Familiarity with Oracle PKI application usage and utilities. Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, MCSA, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or DoD 8570-compliant certifications (e.g., Security+). Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of system security, PKI, and compliance in DoD environments. Ability to automate repetitive tasks using scripting and configuration management tools. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining secure and compliant systems.
