The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) is the state agency that plans, develops, coordinates, and funds services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of:
  • intellectual disability and related disabilities

Job Responsibilities
Under limited supervision reporting to the Manager of IT Systems and Services, this position participates in the analysis, implementation, support, and maintenance of the agency's systems infrastructure; including physical and virtual networks, servers, computers, applications and other endpoints.

Responsible for DDSN's patch management operations to include but not limited to deploying security patches for physical and virtual servers and endpoints on-prem and in Intune, Windows servicing process for automating Windows feature updates, application upgrades and deployments, and third-party patch management. Works with DDSN Information Security team to ensure the security and integrity of servers and workstations through regular audits and proactive measures. Troubleshoots, patches and upgrades systems.

Responsible for DDSN's Microsoft Active Directory (AD) directory service environment used for authentication and authorization of all users and computers in both AD Sites to include user/group account creation, AD replication, group policy objects (GPOs) used to define specific configurations for users and computers in accordance to CIS security benchmarks, and network policies. Maintains internal and external Domain Name System (DNS) zones. Responsible for the DHCP server environment. Troubleshoots GPO, DNS, DHCP, and other AD related issues.

Responsible for DDSN Microsoft 365 environment including but not limited to Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Entra AD, tenant policies, and Azure tenant resources.

Documents and updates standard operating procedures. Works closely with systems engineers for support and upgrade planning for all Microsoft and other third party software. Provide knowledge and assistance to desktop support team as needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and 4 years experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. An associate degree or bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Moderate knowledge of information technology systems analysis, design, testing, and maintenance techniques. Moderate knowledge of computer hardware, software, Microsoft and Linux operating systems, networking, and other IT tools and resources. Moderate knowledge of security frameworks such as CIS and NIST CSF. Knowledge of vulnerability management strategies and patch management techniques. Ability to solve moderate to complex problems, and to apply critical thinking skills to needs and problems. Ability to follow technical directions and to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
