Where you'll work: This is an onsite opportunity where you will report to the customer's location in Port Hueneme, CA. An average day: As Systems Administrator III you will provide strategic direction and oversight of complex IT infrastructures. This role involves coordinating large scale deployments, leading junior administrators, and ensuring compliance with evolving security requirements. In this position you will: Guide the development and maintenance of advanced server and network architectures for high availability. Lead major system upgrades and performance optimization projects aligned with mission critical objectives. Define and maintain policies, procedures, and SOPs to ensure adherence to cybersecurity regulations. Collaborate with leadership to strategize and prioritize IT initiatives that support organizational objectives. Mentor junior system administrators, reviewing their work and providing continuous feedback. Direct complex troubleshooting efforts, investigating root causes for high impact outages. Oversee resource allocation in large scale virtualization or cloud deployments, ensuring performance and security. Validate compliance with established security controls and perform regular assessments. Conduct capacity planning, managing hardware refresh cycles and budgetary considerations. Review and approve change management documentation, aligning each request with established policies. Track performance metrics to identify operational trends and propose improvements. Collaborate with cross functional teams, including cybersecurity and database specialists, on integrated projects. Evaluate emerging technologies, offering recommendations for pilot programs or proof of concept. Implement proactive monitoring solutions to detect anomalies and address issues in real time. Provide executive updates on system performance, highlighting areas of risk and proposed mitigations. Basic Qualifications: As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; in lieu of a degree, an additional 5 years of enterprise level systems administration experience may be substituted. A minimum of 7 years of experience in systems administration, overseeing complex infrastructure and leading high impact projects. In depth knowledge of OS administration, virtualization, and cloud platforms. Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, STIG) if applicable. IAT Level II certification as defined by DoD 8570. Operating System certification relevant to the specific environment being supported. Proven leadership abilities, capable of guiding large teams and steering strategic projects. Expertise in disaster recovery planning and design, including high availability configurations. Strong networking background, with knowledge of firewalls, load balancers, and security protocols. Advanced troubleshooting skills for diagnosing critical issues under time sensitive conditions.
