Where you'll work: This is an onsite opportunity where you will report to the customer's location in Port Hueneme, CA. An average day: As Systems Administrator II you will handle the day to day administration of servers, networks, and applications. You will also ensure stable and secure operations, perform troubleshooting, and support the team in implementing system updates and patches. In this position you will: Handle routine server administration tasks such as account management, file permissions, and resource allocation. Configure and maintain operating systems, regularly applying security patches to stay compliant. Monitor system performance metrics, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, escalating complex incidents when necessary. Keep comprehensive documentation of system configurations, changes, and standard procedures. Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to implement relevant controls on operating environments. Develop and manage backup strategies to safeguard data and support disaster recovery initiatives. Oversee group policies, user privileges, and security protocols in accordance with organizational standards. Investigate system event logs and alerts, responding promptly to potential outages or security threats. Assist in infrastructure upgrades and migrations, following approved change management processes. Manage virtual machines, ensuring optimal resource distribution and performance. Contribute to capacity planning, hardware refresh scheduling, and future resource forecasting. Work with cross functional teams to schedule maintenance windows and minimize user impact. Participate in disaster recovery planning, drills, and documentation exercises. Produce routine performance reports and metrics for leadership review and strategic planning Basic Qualifications: As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions. An Associate's degree in a technical field; in lieu of a degree, an additional 3 years of hands on systems administration experience may be substituted. A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration, performing routine server/network tasks and advanced troubleshooting. Experience administering Windows or Linux servers in a mid to large scale environment. Understanding of cybersecurity guidelines and best practices (e.g., RMF, STIG) if applicable. Familiarity with virtualization tools such as VMware or Hyper V. IAT Level II certification consistent with DoD 8570 requirements. Operating System certification relevant to the specific environment being supported. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems through systematic troubleshooting. Knowledge of backup and recovery operations, including automated scheduling. Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate across diverse technical groups.
