An average day: As Systems Administrator II Domain Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the administration and maintenance of Active Directory domain infrastructures, including domestic and international domain environments, for a large federal enterprise effort. This role involves managing domain controllers, implementing domain security policies, and ensuring domain service performance. The Domain Administrator will collaborate with senior administrators and other IT teams to support mission-critical domain services and contribute to domain infrastructure improvements. In this position you will: Configure, deploy, and maintain Active Directory domain infrastructure, including domain controllers and related services Manage domain user accounts, group policies, OU structures, and security permissions across the enterprise Implement domain security measures, including password policies, account lockout policies, and privileged access management Monitor and maintain domain replication, ensuring proper synchronization across distributed domain controllers Configure and manage DNS/DHCP services to support reliable domain name resolution and IP address assignment Implement and maintain domain certificate services and PKI infrastructure Assist with domain migrations, consolidations, and forest/domain trust relationships Troubleshoot and resolve domain authentication issues, service disruptions, and performance problems Maintain domain documentation, including domain architecture diagrams, recovery procedures, and operational guidelines Collaborate with security teams to implement domain-level security controls and respond to security incidents Perform regular domain health checks, backup validation, and disaster recovery testing Support integration between Active Directory and other enterprise systems, including cloud services and authentication mechanisms Provide escalation support and technical guidance for domain-related issues to IT support teams Create and maintain domain monitoring dashboards and generate regular health reports for stakeholders Work with virtualization technologies, such as VMware and Hyper-V, to support virtual environments Implement basic security measures, including system hardening and routine patching Assist with managing storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup/recovery operations Basic Qualifications: As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR, 5 years of related experience in place of degree. 3+ years of Active Directory administration experience and 2+ years hands-on domain infrastructure management experience Must hold a current 8570/8140 IAT Level II Certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP), Security + CE is preferred At least one advanced certification (CASP+, CISSP, GSEC, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) is desired Proven experience with Active Directory core components including domain controller administration, group policy management, and identity management methodologies Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Windows/Linux administration, system hardening, and network security concepts Proficiency in domain security analysis, compliance implementation, authentication protocols, and access control management Experience with domain monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and service availability management Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with teams Experience with POA&M development, CMMC framework, and continuous monitoring practices Other Requirements: Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility or have an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
