Overview Position Overview: VTG is seeking a talented and experienced System Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team in multiple locations across D.C Metro Area.

What will you do?
  • This engineer will work with a team of technical professionals to ensure the maintenance and operational efficiency of custom software baseline and server hardware in data centers. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading physical server infrastructure. The work will be carried out in an agile environment, requiring exceptional flexibility and technical skills to adapt to dynamic requirements and multiple stakeholders.
    Key Responsibilities:
    - Maintain, troubleshoot custom Software Baseline based on Scientific Linux and Red Hat Linux.
    - Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade server hardware to ensure operational efficiency.
    - Collaborate with technical teams to set up and maintain development, testing, and production environments.
    - Monitor server performance, implement improvements, and develop maintenance schedules.
    - Provide technical support, document activities, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
    - Participate in on-call support as needed for after-hours issues.
    Required Education/Experience:
    - Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline.
    - Experience: 8+ years in server hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Proficient in Linux/Unix systems administration.
- Extensive knowledge of physical server management and troubleshooting.
- Experience with environment and server layout and configuration maintenance to industry standards.
- Ability to develop and follow maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Strong understanding of large-scale system integration.
- Experience with scripting to automate routine maintenance and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI with active polygraph.
Optional Skills:
- Experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure and AWS CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of cloud application architecture (AWS/Azure).
- Experience with cloud environment automation and monitoring.
