The Mission

Leidos is on the lookout for a System Administrator to support a large-scale IT contract for the Department of Defense. This position requires hands-on experience in administering Linux and Windows servers in a VMware virtualization environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, managing customer inquiries effectively. As a System Administrator, you will collaborate with other administrators to address service requests, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions, ensuring a swift return to service. Your role will involve analyzing recurring issues, suggesting preventive solutions, and optimizing existing infrastructure for performance enhancements. You will provide comprehensive systems and software operations support within a diverse, multi-enclave enterprise environment, working closely with team members to meet mission requirements while ensuring customer capabilities function seamlessly.

The Challenge:
  • Engage proactively with customers to address service inquiries and technical issues.
  • Administer and monitor Linux, Microsoft, and Mac systems in a VMware virtualized environment.
  • Troubleshoot implementation and maintenance challenges of IT systems, differentiating between individual user issues and organization-wide problems.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to gather information, analyze data, and develop solutions for incident tickets and requirements.
  • Create effective solutions for complex technical issues.
  • Prepare follow-up reports that detail technical findings, resolutions, and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Support customer operations in a 24/7/365 environment and provide on-call assistance during after-hours outages.
  • Update and maintain operations and monitoring documentation for critical watch personnel.
Basic Qualifications
  • Foundational knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services and their ecosystems.
  • Understanding of Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts, including Dell VXRail.
  • Experience with Tier 2 system administration for Linux (CentOS, RHEL, or Ubuntu) and Microsoft Server (2012 R2/2016).
  • Familiarity with supporting virtual desktops running Linux, Windows, and/or macOS.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using Linux Shell scripts, PowerShell, or other languages.
  • Experience troubleshooting in dynamic environments.
  • Skilled in log reviews, incident analysis, and identifying trends in issues.
  • Knowledge of server patch management practices.
  • Expert time management abilities and familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
  • Adept at triaging and prioritizing incidents effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and support peers in driving process improvements.
  • Meets DoDM 8140.03 (formerly DoD 8570) certification requirements for IT System Admin Intermediate level (Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+ CE, GSEC, or higher).
Clearance
  • US Citizenship required due to government contract stipulations.
  • Current TS SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a specific polygraph as required.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of prior relevant experience, or a master's with 6 years, an associate's with 10 years, or a high school diploma with 12 years.
What sets you apart?
  • Certifications in VMware (VCA/VCP), Microsoft Server Administration (MCSA), Linux Administration (Linux+), or Mac Administration (ACSP) are advantageous.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef is a plus.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
