System Administrator LOCATION: Albany High Complex
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a System Administrator to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective professionals. The System Administrator will be responsible for the availability, maintenance, and repair of systems in the enterprise environment. The System Administrator will ensure tasks are completed according to best practices and create supporting documentation. This role provides tier 2 and 3 support for issues that have been escalated. This role will also work closely with our partners to integrate and implement new solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field;
- Directly related experience may substitute for a degree or certification on a year-for-year basis;
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience with technical support for desktop hardware and software applications providing first-call phone and desktop resolution;
- Must have professional and technical experience working with the local area and wide area networks, desktop computers, hardware and software applications, upgrades, and installation, Microsoft Solutions Associate (MCSA), and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MSCE) are highly desirable;
- UNIX/LINUX, MCSA and/or MCSE certification preferred;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Excellent verbal and written communication, and customer service/support skills;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work with a degree of accuracy;
- Ability to interact with the management team, clients, vendors, and support groups.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Serves as the lead worker, technical expert, and systems administrator and engineer for systems in an integrated enterprise environment;
- Writes and executes scripts and actively participates in the design, development and implementation of highly complex systems and applications in accordance with authority goals and objectives;
- Implements backup policies in accordance with enterprise data capture and recovery program;
- Implements and maintains system products and configurations and makes recommendations to ensure that the system has best practices based architecture and configuration in place;
- Performs essential system administration tasks daily to ensure systems are performing efficiently;
- Provides tier 2 and tier 3 production support;
- Provides after-hours production support on a rotational basis;
- Configures, maintains, and upgrades systems components in addition to installing operating system and hardware components;
- Documents system environment using industry-standard systems documentation tools;
- Installs new systems as needed;
- Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation;
- Ability to lift and move computer equipment, including monitors, keyboards, printers, and servers, weighing up to 50 pounds;
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach as required for system installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting;
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as server rooms or wiring closets;
- Ability to travel between school sites within the district as needed.
REPORTS TO:
Infrastructure Manager SALARY RANGE:
12 month work calendar. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
