THIS IS A LIMITED PART-TIME POSITION The day and hours for this position: varies2025 Important Dates - The interview process is scheduled to begin in February 2025.

Bargaining Unit: No Union Representation Posting may close at any time Examples of Work Performed- Monitor assigned recreational pool area to detect hazards, disturbances, or safety infractions, by practicing preventative lifeguarding.
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies
- Enforce all City of Wichita Parks pools policies and procedures
- Administer Swim Lessons
- Completes daily incident and cash reports
- Schedules staff to the needs of the facility and ensures that coverage is maintained at adequate levels.
- Administer a regular in-service training schedule for staff
- Ensure facility cleanliness and maintain operations of chemicals and filtration of the pool systems.

Requirements of Work- Ability to listen to, read, interpret, and apply instructions received
- Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to handle chemicals that require a respirator
- Ability to lift empty containers weighing up to 50lbs up to a 4 ft height
- Ability to lift and move large, sometimes bulky objects weighing up to 80lbs with assistance
- Ability to climb steps or ladders
- Ability to move about quickly and stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop or squat, as needed to perform assigned tasks
- Ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions
- Ability to tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions
- Ability to climb onto and sit on a lifeguard tower for extended periods of time
- Ability to physically perform life guarding activities, including techniques of swimmer rescue
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- An employee will not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Required Experience and Training Required Experience and Training- Must be at least 18 years old or older
- 2 years of experience as a lifeguard.
- Have a current American Red Cross CPR-PR, First Aid, and LGT.
- Applicants must satisfactorily demonstrate required skills including swimming, CPR-PR and first aid.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and Training- A current WSI and/or LGI certification.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing American Red Cross Lifeguarding, pre-employment drug screening, respirator testing, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check.
