The ideal candidate for the SVP, Head of Publishing & Creative position is a highly experienced executive with 8+ years of demonstrated A&R success landing chart-topping hit records. This role will oversee the AMG publishing roster, with a focus on nurturing talent, building strategic partnerships, driving catalog growth, and securing Top 40 Radio level placements.


The SVP will play a key role in creating high-level deal flow of hit-makers, leading the AMG A&R team, and continuing to develop an extensive creative network. This position requires deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a passion for music publishing. The ideal candidate for this role has numerous accounts of previous success with massive hit records.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's creative and publishing division, overseeing talent strategy, catalog development, and industry relationships

  • Sign and develop songwriters, producers, and artist-writers across multiple genres

  • Set up strategic writing sessions, collaborations, and writing camps to maximize creative output and hit potential

  • Collaborate with label A&Rs, managers, and artists to secure notable placements for the company's roster

  • Pitch songs and demos for artist projects, film/TV, and brand campaigns, in close coordination with sync division

  • Scout and evaluate new talent and publishing deal opportunities; oversee deal negotiation in partnership with legal and executive leadership

  • Guide long-term career planning and creative strategy for writers and producers, enabling them to elevate their business actively

  • Champion the company's catalog by identifying key songs for re-cuts, covers, or sync potential

  • Maintain deep knowledge of music and cultural trends to inform creative signings and collaborations

  • Travel when necessary, including representation at industry events, conferences, showcases, etc.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in music publishing, A&R, and creative development with hit-maker songwriters and producers

  • Proven track record of signing and developing commercially successful and critically acclaimed talent

  • Deep understanding of the songwriting, artist development, and record-making process

  • Strong relationships with label executives, managers, artists, other publishers, and culture defining songwriters and producers

  • Excellent pitch instincts and a demonstrated ability to place songs across multiple channels

  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership and team management skills

  • Passion for songwriting and a sharp ear for hit potential across genres

  • Knowledge of publishing contracts, rights management, and royalty structures

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities

  • Self-starter with a creative, entrepreneurial mindset and a strong sense of integrity
