Our restaurant needs an experienced Sushi Chef to join our team. You will prepare sushi rolls and dishes from the sushi bar. Our ideal candidate is comfortable with a variety of sushi rolling, plating, and related cooking techniques and has experience working in a busy sushi restaurant. Advanced knife cutting skills and Fish Butchery are a must. We expect our sushi chefs to be friendly and interact with customers, providing recommendations on different dishes when requested.
Sushi Chef Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare raw fish and other sushi ingredients
- Roll and plate dishes
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Coordinate with wait staff to ensure an efficient flow of orders
- Regularly take kitchen inventory
- Maintain a stock station for service as well as next day set up
- Learn restaurant techniques and preparation
Sushi Chef Requirements and Qualifications
- 2 years minimum as sushi chef
- Culinary arts education and training (preferred)
- Cooking and sushi-making experience
- Food handler's card
- Knife skills
- Communication, time-management, and organizational abilities
