Surgical Technologist

Overview
Provides patient care duties for patients of all ages, infants through adults under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Serves as a Surgical Technologist, Birthing Center tech and Unit Secretary. Provides care preoperatively, perioperatively, and postoperatively within scope of practice and hospital policy and procedures. Also functions as a surgical assistant and/or assistant to the circulating nurse. Performs a variety of organizational, administrative, and communication functions.

Responsibilities
Assist in surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field.
Ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are available and functioning properly.
Monitor patient vitals and provide critical care support during surgeries.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety.
Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate medical records using EHR systems.
Adhere to hospital protocols and emergency procedures in high-pressure situations.

Qualifications
Graduate of accredited program of Surgical Technology, military experience, or at least 2 years of clinical surgical technology experience with no degree.
BCLS Certification from the American Heart Association. If the BCLS is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), then AHA certification is due within three months of employment date.
No previous experience required. Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
