Surgical Technologist II

Education Required: Graduate from a school of Surgical Technology or 5 years' experience as a Surgical Technologist. Experience Preferred: Previous hospital and/or work experience as a Surgical Technologist Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams Strong analytical/problem solving skills Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment Able to work in a fast paced environment Ability to maintain personal effectiveness while dealing with various personalities, skill levels, and rapidly changing situations Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days and maintained throughout employment Position Competencies: Competencies are essential skills needed to be successful in a position. These competencies are required to help the department maintain a high level of productivity and success. Each competency will be evaluated by observation. Assesses, recognizes, and reports abnormal findings or significant changes in patient condition that may indicate complications related to the procedure to the appropriate licensed surgical personnel. Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of/adherence to predetermined standards which define the structure, process, and desired patient outcomes. Prepares for and assists with various surgical procedures. Assesses supply and equipment needs, assures availability, utilizes equipment correctly and troubleshoots any problems. Performs 1st and 2nd scrub duties, cleans and restocks as assigned, maintains an organized working environment and follows infection control/isolation policies, protocols and procedures. Maintains confidentiality, provides a safe environment, practices universal precautions and uses proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
