Pay: $27.30 - $40.95 / hour
Summary
Assists the flow of patient care to make certain needs are met in a timely fashion. Communicates with other members of the specialty team to facilitate the care of the patient and the goals of the Bariatrics team.
This position works under the supervision of the Director and the operating surgeon and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
Assumes responsibility for setting up and passing instruments, labeling medications, holding retractors, assisting the surgeon, and assists with circulating duties as necessary. Applies principles of asepsis and infection control skillfully
Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative technique relative to operative procedures wherein the STFA assists.
Provides exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning and sponging techniques.
Handles tissue as directed by the surgeon during the operative procedure.
Assists with positioning, prepping, draping of the patient, and with transfer of the patient to and from the operating room.
Applies surgical dressings.
Qualifications
Completion of an approved surgical technologist education program. Completion of accredited course in surgical assisting or first assisting within two (2) years. Completion of accredited LPN program is required.
CST - Certified Surgical Tech is required. BLS certification required. LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure is required.
Five years diversified perioperative scrubbing experience preferred. Three to six months minimum to learn job is required.
