We are seeking a skilled Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 49-day locum tenens assignment in Pennsylvania, starting June 30, 2025. The ideal candidate will provide specialized care in a hospital setting, working night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:30 AM on a 7-on/7-off schedule. Responsibilities include managing patients in the cardiovascular/cardiothoracic ICU and step-down unit, handling balloon pumps, central lines, and chest tubes, as well as performing admissions, discharges, and consults. This role does not involve OR or first assist duties. Proficiency with Epic EMR is required. This opportunity offers the potential for extension beyond the initial assignment period.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:


• Provide specialized care in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic ICU and step-down units


• Manage patients with complex cardiac conditions and post-operative care needs


• Monitor and manage balloon pumps, central lines, and chest tubes


• Perform patient admissions, discharges, and consults


• Collaborate with the cardiothoracic surgery team and other healthcare professionals


• Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR system


• Assess patient conditions and adjust treatment plans as necessary


• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery


• Respond to emergencies and critical situations in the ICU setting


• Stay current with best practices in cardiothoracic nursing and critical care


Additional Information:


• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania


• Experience in cardiothoracic surgery and critical care required


• Proficiency with Epic EMR system preferred


• Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills essential


• Ability to work independently during night shifts


• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment


• Flexibility to adapt to the 7-on/7-off schedule
