This role involves managing inpatientadmissions and consults for trauma, general surgery, and urology patients. Theideal candidate will be adept at providing first-call care for all inpatientsurgical services and responding to Level I and Level II traumas.
As aSurgical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will manage inpatientadmissions and consults for trauma, general surgery, and urology patients whileacting as the hospital-wide first-call provider for surgical services,including orthopedics and colorectal cases. You will respond to Level I andLevel II traumas, performing initial stabilization and care, as well asadvanced procedures such as suturing, central line and arterial lineplacements, and tube insertions, including chest tubes. Additionally, you willevaluate general surgical and trauma consults or admissions, collaborate withthe on-call general surgeon, and assist with boarding and managing surgicalcases. In urology-specific cases, you will troubleshoot foley catheters andcontinuous bladder irrigation while setting up for bedside procedures whenneeded. This role also includes ensuring seamless patient care for admissions,consults, and post-operative management.
Requirements:
Proficiency in suturing, central line, and arterial lineplacement.
Experience evaluating surgical and trauma cases.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to workeffectively with surgical teams and on-call surgeons.
Certification in ACLS and ATLS (required).
Active and unrestricted Michigan license.
