Acute Care Medical Director Opportunity in Southeast Alaska Position: Acute Care Medical Director Location: Juneau, Alaska Setting: Hospital-Based Leadership Opportunity Highlights: Oversee clinical direction of acute care services across the consortium Lead inpatient medical staff, including physicians and midlevel providers Drive clinical quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives Develop and implement strategic alignments to enhance patient care Serve as the primary liaison between inpatient medical staff and senior leadership Responsibilities: Ensure high-quality inpatient medical care at SEARHC hospitals Lead provider recruitment, hiring, credentialing, and scheduling Identify and implement strategies to improve patient flow and reduce inefficiencies Oversee medical staff performance evaluations, peer reviews, and compliance Support accreditation efforts and ensure regulatory compliance (DNV, HRSA) Collaborate with leadership to enhance provider engagement and development Provide clinical oversight of case management, infection control, and risk management Monitor resource utilization and support fiscally responsible standards Participate in hospital leadership teams to align medical staff with strategic goals Conduct direct clinical care as needed to maintain workflow insight Requirements: Education: MD or DO with an active U.S. medical license (Alaska license preferred) Experience: - 5+ years of leadership experience in a hospital/health system - Proven ability to drive quality improvement and evidence-based practices Certifications: - BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Heart Association) Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership and organizational skills Expertise in quality improvement, risk management, and accreditation standards Ability to mentor, engage, and develop medical staff Excellent communication and strategic planning skills Ability to manage complex healthcare operations and drive performance improvements Additional Details: Travel: Up to 30% travel to our serviced communities by jet, small aircraft, or ferry Benefits: Comprehensive package including retirement, PTO, parental leave, health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage Leadership Impact: Opportunity to shape acute care services and provider engagement This is a high-impact leadership role for a physician executive dedicated to advancing hospital care and provider collaboration across Southeast Alaska.
