Supplemental Health Care is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a nationally recognized Cardiothoracic Surgery team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Practice Overview:


Full-scope cardiothoracic surgery: clinic (pre and post-op), consults, stepdown, ICU, and first assist in the OR, including EVH (Maquet)


  • Weekly schedule includes OR, ICU, stepdown, and outpatient call coverage (approximately 50-60 hours per week)
    • Collaborative team of 4 Advanced Practice Clinicians and 3 Cardiothoracic Surgeons
    • Procedures include CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic cases, VATS, robotic (DaVinci), and TAVR backup
    • Opportunity to contribute to a growing and dynamic thoracic surgery program


Responsibilities Include:


  • Conduct morning rounds and manage post-op patient care
    • Assist in the operating room, including patient preparation
    • Perform chest tube and pacer wire removal, and manage stepdown care
    Conduct pre and post-op office visits, discharge planning, and patient education
    • Participate in weekday and weekend call rotations
    • Ensure all pre-op labs, H&Ps, data sheets, and documentation are completed
    • Collaborate closely with surgeons and clinical teams to provide exceptional care

Requirements:


  • Prior experience in CT, vascular, thoracic, congenital cardiac, or robotic surgery required
    • Nurse Practitioners: Masters degree in Nursing, eligible for New Mexico licensure
    • DEA, and national board certification (ANCC or AANP)
      • Physician Assistants: CAHEA-certified or minimum of two years' experience in cardiothoracic surgery
