Salary: Salary pay range is min. $20.06 to a max. $26.12 per hr. based on education & experience

Essential Job Functions Overview

With the general supervision of the Supportive Housing Managing Director, provides a variety of administrative, coordinating, and monitoring functions; interview, counsel and assist clients with securing safe, affordable, permanent housing. Special emphasis is given to services that enable recipients to attain and remain in permanent and independent community housing. Individual should strive to create a healing environment that respects the perspectives and experiences of the individuals, families, staff and communities we serve by practicing safe, respectful communication as well as respecting individuals' boundaries and differences.

Administrative and coordinating responsibilities can include: Tracking of required documentation, CAIRS data entry, referral processing/wait list management, assistance and support for transitional apartments, as well as site management and oversight of required documentation (re-certification, move-ins, communication with PMCS) for Blue Cut properties.

Essential Job Duties
  • Assist in conducting routine audits of required documentation. Work with the Manager and Director to develop plans to correct areas of concern.
  • Enter SH admissions and discharges into CAIRS.
  • Enter tenancy services for all SH individuals into CAIRS by the 15th of each month.
  • Ensure all required documentation related to Tenancy Services is obtained upon admission and on-going.
  • Review documentation and Support plans and provide feedback to staff.
  • May carry a caseload (Temporary coverage during staff shortages).
  • Provide individual counseling, training, and assistance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all services according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist clients in negotiating with landlords, vendors, and service providers.
  • Actively participate in required meetings, in-service trainings, and other continuing education opportunities.
  • Purchase supplies and physically help with moving, setting up, and maintaining housing as needed.
  • Conduct in-home visits and revise support services plans as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community services.
  • Know and adhere to all OMH/HUD/other agency regulatory policies and procedures.
Note: This position differs from the Supportive Housing Specialist job description in that:
  • Incumbent will be responsible for a smaller direct care caseload.
  • Incumbent has more administrative and coordinating responsibilities.

Experience, Education, & Physical Qualifications

Typical qualifications may be possession of a bachelor's degree in human services (or a related field) and four (4) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; one (1) year of housing experience preferred. Individual must be organized and detail oriented. Valid NYS Driver's License as driving is an essential function of the position.

Knowledge

General knowledge and understanding of Mental Health issues, Chemical addiction and the Psychiatric Rehabilitation model; psychology, personality, and group dynamics; principles and practices of conflict and crisis management, adult learning, motivation, interpersonal communications, household management; independent living skills; the Human Services system; use of motivational interviewing to engage individuals; positive philosophy toward wellness/recovery and trauma informed care; knowledge of HUD regulations, Section 8, and housing first models.

Skills and Abilities

Use of contemporary office equipment, particularly a computer with word processing, database and report generating software; to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to record notes as needed; to listen, understand, and appreciate the experience of consumers; to establish rapport and meaningful professional relationships with consumers; to persuade, negotiate and resolve conflicts; to work effectively under stress; to provide positive role modeling; to inspire respect, confidence, and trust in clients and co-workers; to respect and maintain appropriate confidentialities; to effectively encourage consumers toward greater self-sufficiency; to perceive and describe changes in behavior; to generate and maintain accurate records and reports as required; to seek, accept, and learn from peer and supervisor feedback; to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities; to plan and implement strategies consistent with client needs and overall organization goals, objectives, and standards; to meet deadlines regularly.

Physical requirements/Working conditions

Significant amount of driving and visiting clients; general apartment settings; general office environment. Significant amount of purchasing supplies, assisting with moving furniture, relocation, and household maintenance.
