The Support Service Specialist position earns

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SUPPORT SERVICE SPECIALIST As a Support Service Specialist, you spend your day performing backups and system cleanups, and assists in handling staff equipment issue and return. Your work typically involves overseeing the Helpdesk system and being able to assign tasks to technicians. Your job is essential to the city, you install, maintain, and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, cameras or information resources equipment. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. You also assist with scheduled service calls, interact with all users and also interact with vendors for supplies and equipment. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in information technology and you finding genuine enjoyment in what you do.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN SUPPORT SERVICE SPECIALIST - Associate Degree in computer hardware and software repair.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
- Requires one (1) year experience in installing and supporting all of the following but not limited to: Windows OS, Server Office Suites, PC deployment, Antivirus management, remote user networking, TCP/IP, third party software troubleshooting.
- Three (3) years' experience in related field.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the city's expense
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
