Position Overview: The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting our production operations by ensuring that components and products from suppliers meet our rigorous engineering standards. This role is instrumental in driving quality improvements and fostering organizational initiatives aimed at achieving "zero defects" performance.
Key Responsibilities: - Measure results based on project completion and supplier quality metrics.
- Champion quality improvement initiatives both internally and with suppliers.
- Process non-conformance reports and supplier corrective actions as needed.
- Lead PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) efforts for both internal and supplier-related tasks.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Engineering to establish robust Quality Plans and PPAP requirements over the product lifecycle.
- Manage and enhance supplier quality metrics, including PPAP results, scorecards, SCARs, audits, and SPC processes.
- Conduct ISO 9001-based audits at supplier facilities and manage corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Conduct quality training for suppliers to align with G&W and customer quality expectations.
- Optimize process capability for critical characteristics at suppliers using statistical analysis and effective problem-solving techniques.
- Proactively engage with suppliers to resolve ongoing quality and performance issues.
- Review and approve supplier PPAP submissions to adhere to organizational standards.
- Occasionally travel (10 to 25% of the year) for supplier assessments, including possible international travel.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Material Science Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or supplier quality engineering, with a focus on Quality and Supply Quality.
- Experience in electronics assembly, electrical equipment, or semiconductor manufacturing is a plus.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of French or Spanish is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ETQ, JD Edwards software, or any ERP systems is beneficial.
- Demonstrated understanding of FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, inspection techniques, and root cause analysis.
- Competence in report writing using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and data analysis using Minitab is essential.
- ASQ Certification, Six Sigma Black Belt, or Lean Certification is a plus.
- Expertise in PPAP processes and knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or IATF 16949 is required.
- Innovative problem-solver experienced in formal problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong team building and interpersonal skills.
- Able to collaborate effectively with manufacturing teams at all levels.
