About Our Client Founded in 1977 as a roadside food stand and relaunched in 2011, this Los Angeles-based company has evolved into a top producer of protein based snacks. With over 30 SKUs available in more than 30,000 locations nationwide, the company has expanded production through co-packers mainly in the Midwest. They have a supply chain office in downtown Chicago, where a team of five works in the office two to three days per week and are looking to expand the overall team with this role.
Job Description - Work alongside the Director of FSQA to design and execute comprehensive plans that align with the company's objectives, focusing on ensuring the delivery of safe and premium quality raw materials and final products.
- Collaborate with both internal teams and external partners to create, implement, and continually refine FSQA strategies for suppliers, ensuring top-notch product consistency and compliance.
- Serve as the key FSQA liaison, providing both remote and on-site support to manufacturing partners, logistics providers, and suppliers, addressing challenges, fostering improvements, and ensuring that all production processes meet the required standards, certifications, and customer specifications.
- Team up with internal departments, such as Procurement, R&D, and FSQA, alongside external collaborators, including manufacturers and suppliers, to develop, maintain, and optimize FSQA programs that drive operational excellence.
- Lead audits and reviews of critical partners, including suppliers, co-manufacturers, and logistics companies, working together to identify root causes and implement corrective actions based on audit results.
- Ensure that partners maintain required certifications such as SQF, Organic, and Gluten-Free, overseeing corrective actions and resolving any audit issues through thorough analysis and strategic improvements.
- Provide support for resolving FSQA concerns related to materials, ingredients, packaging, and products, offering remote and on-site assistance and collaborating on root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Support R&D and special initiatives with technical expertise, ensuring smooth integration and adherence to FSQA standards across all operations and locations.
- Deliver FSQA training to both internal and external teams, equipping stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to meet quality assurance requirements.
- Analyze and share FSQA-related data, including consumer feedback and complaints, to inform and drive continuous process improvements across the board.
- Partner with stakeholders to define and monitor key FSQA performance indicators (KPIs), communicating progress and ensuring that goals are consistently met and exceeded.
- Contribute to special projects and initiatives as outlined by the Director of FSQA, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and continued operational success.

The Successful Applicant - Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Food Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Active certifications in HACCP and/or FDA FSMA HARPC and PCQI.
- Willingness to travel, primarily in the car
- Over 8 years of supervisory or managerial experience in FSQA within food or beverage manufacturing, particularly in USDA or FDA-regulated environments.
- Strong track record in creating, executing, and enhancing HACCP and/or FDA FSMA-compliant Food Safety Plans, along with managing essential programs such as GMP, Allergen Control, Environmental Monitoring, and Sanitation.
- In-depth knowledge of current GFSI certification standards like SQF, BRC, and others, with hands-on experience leading and refining food safety certification processes as an SQF/BRC Practitioner.
- Proven expertise in effective communication and teamwork with regulatory agencies and both internal and external teams, ensuring the efficiency of FSQA programs and resolving any operational challenges or conflicts.

What's on Offer - Base Salary between $100,000 - $115,000
