Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct the design of electric transmission & distribution facilities by supervising and participating in the preparation of drawings, work orders, design calculations, specifications, cost estimates, contracts, and other technical documents designing and supervising facilities installations.
- Oversee the performance of engineering studies including fuse and relay coordination studies, fault current studies, voltage studies, and load studies.
- Review and investigate power quality concerns, customer complaints, and system issues before implementing corrective/mitigating action.
- Review and approve all electrical transmission and distribution work orders to ensure accuracy and completeness. Supervise, train, and lead distribution engineers and other reporting staff.
- Assist in budget preparation by forecasting and prioritizing system needs, recommending capital improvement projects, preparing project scope documents, and estimating project costs and schedules.
- Develop underground and overhead distribution installation standards and evaluate new material and products.
- Implement policies, complete reports and studies, and perform other assigned duties with regard to federal, state and Southwest Power Pool regulatory standards and requirements.
- Develop policies, procedures and supporting data related to demonstrating compliance with applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards and requirements. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for applicable standards during compliance audits.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Six years of related work experience is required with eight or more years of experience preferred.
Position Competencies:
- Proficiency in power distribution engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal/external stakeholders.
- Proficient knowledge of project management to set and manage budgets, timelines, and resources for engineering projects.
- Ability to balance competing demands and priorities.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g. NEC, NESC, RUS)

Conditions of Employment:
