Compensation Range:

$23.06 - $32.29

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

The University of Rochester has multiple openings for Catering Supervisors.

As a Catering Supervisor, you will oversee catering operations that cover all University campuses and locations. This role is essential in ensuring the successful planning, preparation, and execution of catering events for students, faculty, staff, and university guests.

Note that supervisory support is primarily focused on represented staff and external event staff.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of catering events to ensure client satisfaction and adherence to university standards
  • Supervise catering staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Collaborate with culinary teams and campus partners to deliver high-quality food service and customized event experiences
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations; conduct regular equipment and facility checks
  • Provide responsive and professional customer service, addressing client needs and resolving issues before, during, and after events
  • Support sustainability efforts and participate in quality control processes to meet health department and internal standards
Requirements
  • 3 years of experience in catering, event management, or food services.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree in Business Management, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or related field (preferred, not required)
  • Ability to lead and manage others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
Licenses and Certifications : Serv-Safe Certification within 12 months of hire required.
