Job Description
Essential Functions: Assures specimens are processed from all age groups according to infection control and laboratory policy and procedures.
Successfully participates yearly in proficiency testing, delegates to all employees proficiency or blind testing and completes documentation within the allotted time frame.
Evaluates graded results with each employee and returns them to the laboratory.
Responsible daily for technical supervision, interpreting and enforcing laboratory policies and procedures to laboratory personnel assigned to the section to meet all regulatory requirements.
Observes, evaluates and initials the performance of quality control, individual tech logs and quality assurance logs of each personnel assigned.
Maintaining these records for regulatory agency's review.
Responsible for the orientation and competency assessment of new personnel.
Completes six-week working schedule for department and/or shift within three weeks of expiration date of previous schedule with approval by Laboratory Manager.
Performs other miscellaneous and related duties as required.
Additional Job Description
An Associate's Degree in Medical Technology with enrollment in an approved BS degree program is required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. ASCP certification is required (in the state of SC, there is no requirement to renew). Three years of related experience as a Medical Technologist is required.
