We're hiring an Underground Utilities Superintendent to oversee high-impact projects involving wet utility installations including sewer, water, storm drains, and fire lines. This is a field leadership role focused on planning, execution, and crew supervision. You'll play a pivotal part in ensuring productivity, safety, and client satisfaction on a range of commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day field activities and jobsite operations for multiple crews and foremen
- Review plans, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and constructability
- Create and maintain project schedules, including 3- and 6-week look-ahead schedules
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and inspections
- Lead safety planning, enforce jobsite safety compliance, and conduct tailgate meetings
- Mentor and evaluate foremen and field crew members to support performance and development
- Collaborate with engineering and office staff to resolve site issues and drive progress
- Monitor productivity, task coding, and labor reporting for accurate project tracking
- Maintain site cleanliness and logistics for efficient, safe operations
What You Bring
- Minimum 8 years of underground pipeline construction experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
- Deep understanding of wet utility systems, civil site logistics, and underground construction methods
- Ability to manage multiple, fast-paced projects with changing priorities
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and project documentation
- Proficient in time management, documentation, and team coordination
- Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Familiarity with construction safety protocols, inspections, and quality standards
- Experience conducting employee training, evaluations, and performance management
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $115,000 - $164,700, based on experience
