POSITION SUMMARY:The Technology Summer Intern will participate in team projects, meet SLAs and project milestones, troubleshoot network issues, maintain documentation using KACE Service Desk, assist with Chromebook repair, provide maintenance for school technology, and manage equipment inventory. Additionally, the intern will support projects directed by the Director of Technology. The intern will contribute to Framingham Public Schools' goal of achieving academic proficiency for all students, ensuring equal access to high-quality instruction, and narrowing the opportunity gap among subgroups within the schools.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:The ideal candidate for the Technology Intern position should have a passion for Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Security. Practical hands-on experience in technology is preferred, with a primary focus on hardware. Any background in networks is advantageous. The Director of Technology is open to considering alternative qualifications beyond these.

Ability to break down and troubleshoot basic technology problems. Exceptional communication and customer services skills required. Must be able to troubleshoot technology provide hands-on support in support of the district technology users.
Understanding of basic networking and ability to troubleshoot basic issues. Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Highly motivated and independent. Must be able to create and update appropriate documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. - Participate in team projects and activities as assigned
- Meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and project milestones as established by the Department of Technology
- Troubleshoot basic network issues, including wired and wireless access
- Ensure appropriate tracking, resolution, and documentation are maintained for technology issues using the KACE Service Desk platform
- Help with repair and tracking of student-issued Chromebooks
- Provide operational maintenance for school technology
- Maintain accurate inventory of all school technology equipment in KACE Asset Management Platform
- Participate in projects as assigned by the Director of Technology
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee must also often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books, school supplies, etc.). The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Occasionally s/he operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and on the telephone. In the classroom, the employee must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of students as well as speak frequently to provide instruction. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces. The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise. The employee interacts with students, parents, and other staff members.

$17 per hour, 25 to 30 hours per week
