About Mission Bit
Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities. We offer a variety of hands-on STEM education programs, including biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses.
This role is in partnership with Metas Youth Summer Academy hosted at the Meta HQ in Menlo Park, CA. Staff will have access to the Meta shuttle bus.
The role
We are seeking a Summer Program Assistant to provide on-site support for our Intro to VR class at Meta HQ. This role is designed to ensure seamless program operations, enhance the student experience, and support our instructors. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and passionate about education equity. As the key on-the-ground presence, youll help manage logistics, provide real-time support, and build meaningful connections with students and instructors to capture the impact of our programs.
This is a temporary, part-time hybrid role based in Menlo Park, CA. It requires approximately 10-20 hours per week from June 9, 2025 to August 1, 2025.
Schedule
- Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM; evenings and other scheduled events occasionally required

What youll be doing
Program support (50%)
- Ensure smooth daily activities, such as program reminders
- Track and manage attendance and student surveys
- Facilitate student orientation and support instructor orientation
- Relay important messages, deadlines, and logistics to instructors/students.
- Communicate updates, challenges, and needs from instructors/students with appropriate staff members
- Assist with classroom observations and ensure feedback is documented.
- Work collaboratively with Mission Bits Education and Programs teams in planning, development, communication, and implementation of Mission Bits vision
- Maintain cross-functional communication across teams to support common goals
- Participate in and support Mission Bit activities
Tech support (30%)
- Troubleshoot tech issues or other logistical concerns
- Evaluate and update existing documentation
- Develop user guides for staff on working with the Meta Quest 2 headset based on Mission Bits curricular needs
Administration (20%)
- Regularly update the calendar with upcoming meetings, events, and activities so that staff have access to accurate information
- Maintain accurate staff notes and communication
- Engage in regular staff meetings
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements

- Have experience in program coordination or event planning
- Are comfortable in public speaking settings and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have good organizational skills
- Have experience working with a diverse group of individuals

- Have a passion for education, tech, and supporting youth
- Are comfortable suggesting and implementing new ideas that improve the quality and integrity of Mission Bit and our programming
Its not required, but its a nice bonus if you
- Have experience working in a nonprofit or education setting
- Have experience working with Unity, the Meta Quest, or VR development
