JTW Advisors LLC

JTW Advisors LLC is a boutique investment banking firm focused exclusively on the homebuilding, building products, and home services industry.

Opportunity

We are looking to hire highly motivated investment banking summer interns to support our principals and associates in the sourcing and execution of M&A transactions. The firm and position offer an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to both sell-side and buy-side Mergers & Acquisitions processes.

Responsibilities

Each selected candidate will be given as much responsibility as his/her experience and capabilities allow.

Summer Internship Program

Accounting Foundation Class - Accounting is the language of business. A deep understanding of accounting principles is a requirement for investment bankers, private equity professionals, and asset managers. JTW will enroll our interns in an introductory online accounting class to make sure all our interns have a base level understanding of basic accounting concepts and financial statements. This course can be completed in advance of the internship or during the initial weeks. Interns with an accounting background do not need to take this class.

Training The Street: Foundations + Advanced Class - This online course provides the skills necessary for investment banking, corporate finance, and private equity internships. JTW will enroll you in this course (52 hours of video content + 52 hours offline = 104 hours total) which you will complete during business hours over the course of the summer. Upon completion of the course, you will receive the TTS Foundations + Advanced Certification which will enhance your professional profile on LinkedIn and other platforms, signaling to employers your readiness to contribute immediately and stand out as a top candidate in the competitive world of finance. Industry Mapping - Your main activity and deliverable for the summer will be creating industry maps for verticals within the home services industry. This entails compiling lists of companies, their profiles / attributes, and key contacts:

  • Buyers - private equity firms, family offices, search firms, platforms, strategics
  • Prospects within each of our verticals - real estate brokers, plumbers, electricians, HVAC, pest control, landscapers, etc.
  • Trade groups / organizations, conferences, and publications

At the end of the summer each intern will be required to deliver a short presentation to the firm summarizing the key players and dynamics within the industry(ies) they researched.

Deal Team Assignment - Each intern will be assigned to the deal time of a live M&A transaction. The summer internship program is only 2-3 months long whereas the typical M&A transaction is 6-9 months long, so it is not possible for an intern to take a transaction from cradle to grave. However, each intern will be exposed to a portion of the process, which may include some of the following services and deliverables:

  • Financial model and projections
  • Valuation analysis and strategic positioning
  • Preparation of marketing materials (Teaser, CIM, virtual data room, etc.)
  • Prospective buyer identification and outreach (strategic and/or financial)
  • Management of the sales process
  • Evaluating bids
  • Negotiation and transaction structuring support
  • Due diligence coordination
  • Interacting with clients and prospects on the phone and in virtual meetings.

Dates

June 2 = Start

July 25 = Earliest End date. Candidates are welcome to stay through August 29.
