SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM (SFSP) WORKERS -
MULTIPLE POSITIONS AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, INCLUDING CAMPS
Anticipated minimum of 3 hours per day, maximum of 8 hours per day
Anticipated start date on or after June 16, 2025

DESCRIPTION:
A summer food service program worker assists in the preparation and serving meals at sites throughout the City of Meriden. Other duties include: cleaning and sanitizing work stations, putting stock away and any other duties as assigned by the summer food service program manager. A SFSP worker performs duties that require lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 pounds in weight and being on your feet for the work day.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have knowledge of food techniques, be able to follow written and oral instructions and operate food service equipment. Applicants should show accuracy and ability in working with figures, manual dexterity and be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Applicants must be in good health and free of communicable diseases. Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience in the summer food service program. Certified Food Protection Manager (formerly known as QFO preferred.

Reliable transportation for travel to meal sites is required. All positions may require driving an MPS vehicle. Positions may be re-assigned based on operational need.

  • Anticipated Min 3 Hour Worker - All
  • Anticipated Min 6, Max 8-Hour Floater - All Locations
  • Anticipated Min 3, Max 5.75-Hour Floater - All Locations
  • Anticipated Min 3, Max 6-Hour Worker - Anticipated 4-5 Week Term: Starts 6/30; Minimum of 4 days per week, Monday to and/or HAN
  • Anticipated Min 3-Hour Worker - 3 Week Term: 7/7 - 7/25, Monday - PHS
  • Anticipated Min 3, Max 8-hour Substitute Locations
SALARY:
  • Cafeteria Worker: $17.87 - $19.37 per hour through 6/30/25; $18.25 - $19.75 as of 7/1/25
  • Internal Cafeteria Substitute: $17.87 - $18.37 through 6/30/25; $18.25 - $18.75 as of 7/1/25
  • External Cafeteria Substitute or Worker: $16.35 per hour
UNPAID VACATION ELIGIBILITY:
  • All = 3 Weeks; Required to work 8/11 - 8/15 and 8/18 - 8/22
  • All = 2 Weeks; Required to work 6/16 - 6/20 and 7/14 - 7/18
  • All = 2 Weeks; Required to work 6/16 - 6/20 and 7/14 - 7/18
  • 4-5 Week Term: 6/30 - and/or HAN = No Vacation
  • 3 Week Term: 7/7 to JB = No Vacation
