CGRC's Extended School Year (ESY) Program is a summer program for approximately 5 to 6 weeks. The ESY program is a structured environment providing social skill interventions for children with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The Extended School Year is a safe environment where students can learn and practice positive social skills.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Provide crisis management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Provide a safe and structured environment for students to engage in therapeutic activities.
  • Encourage positive peer social interactions throughout all activities.
  • Introduce and practice social decision making / social problem solving concepts with students.
  • Model appropriate social interactions and decision making skills for students.
  • Provide encouragement and praise for student's efforts in each activity.
  • Access resources to help appropriately address students mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with directors to access needed materials and resources for behavioral plans and interventions.
  • Collaborate with directors and mental health agencies to address behavioral concerns.
  • Ensure cleanliness of ESY environment.
  • Responsible for completing appropriate documentation regarding crisis.
  • Perform safety techniques and physical emergency interventions when needed due to safety concerns.
  • Create and support implementation of individualized behavior plans for identified students.
