Raytheon's Effector Sub-System Products Department is seeking a Section Leader to support the Subsystems Engineering & Photonics team located in Hanover and Columbia, Maryland. The department is responsible for full-scope RF, digital, and RF photonics product solutions, spanning architecture trades, design, development, fabrication, integration, and deployment of subsystems and associated solutions. This position will manage engineers and technicians in the area of subsystems, RF, digital, configurable logic, and photonics engineering. The team of engineers and technicians focus on the architecture, design, prototyping, and integration and test of subsystems. This leader will be responsible to ensuring robust design practices and processes to deliver reliable work products for these design efforts. This individual will be responsible for section members across both Maryland locations spanning RF, digital and photonic engineering performing these responsibilities. This leader will also contribute directly to efforts as a task lead or individual contributor. What You Will Do Work as a technical lead or individual contributor; Section Leader duties account for approximately 15-20% of the employee's time.
Participate in and guide the design, developments and testing of RF, digital and RF photonics subsystems.
Develop and support proposals.
Interface with program and business leaders to plan and coordinate activities.
Performance management and career development activities.
Support hiring efforts (resume reviews, interviews, etc.).
Oversee the direct line management activities for the section including communication, performance management, career development, and talent acquisition.
Collaborate and communicate with other sections and teams.
Support department and directorate level initiatives.
Ensure employee compliance with company policies and procedures.
Oversight of personnel issue resolution.
Manage employee timecards.
Manage team staffing assignments.
Adhere to and ensure alignment to Raytheon Technologies Values and Behaviors.
Obtaining clearances and program accesses will sometimes be required to effectively manage team members.
Occasional travel is required to support business, program, and department activities.
This 1st shift role will be 100% on-site and based either in Columbia, MD or Hanover, MD. Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 10 years of prior work experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of prior work experience.
10+ years' engineering experience, to include at least 5 years' of leadership roles (i.e. technical and/or management background).
Work experience in aerospace and defense design and development processes, procedures, and compliance in one or more of the following areas: Digital and configurable logic product design, integration, and production support.
RF product and subassembly design, integration, and production support.
RF photonics product design, integration, and production support.
Experience with EVMS, development of budgets, task planning milestone development/tracking, and program performance tools for managing projects and/or program planning.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degree.
Demonstrated technical expertise in one of the following areas: RF subsystem design and performance analysis including some of the following: Experience with RF design and analysis from UHF through Ka band.
Electromagnetic simulation including antenna design and analysis.
Electronic scanned array design, analysis, integration and calibration.
RF subsystem cascade design and analysis.
Digital subsystem design, development and integration including some of the following: Configurable logic development across various vendor tools including Xilinx and Altera.
Digital schematic design and circuit card assembly design using tools such as Siemens Software Xpedition.
Firmware development using FPGA development kits.
RF photonics design, development and integration including some of the following: Fiber based RF photonics subsystem design, analysis, prototyping and testing to frequencies >10 GHz.
Photonics Integrated Circuit design and development applicable to RF photonics systems.
Photonic systems theory, design and practical implementation for RF signal processing applications.
Experience in functional management of engineers in an aerospace and defense environment or leading a multi-disciplined environment.
Experience interacting with customers (internal or external), suppliers, and/or other organizations / disciplines. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
