Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Full-Time Substitute Teacher to join our educational team for grades 6-12. This position involves providing instructional support and maintaining a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The successful candidate will engage with students in various subjects, ensuring continuity in the learning process and fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.


Roles & Responsibilities


The position includes but is not limited to these primary areas of responsibility:


  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in the absence of the regular teacher across various subjects within the 6-12 grade levels.
  • Utilize provided lesson plans, resources, and materials to meet academic objectives.
  • Establish and maintain a conducive learning environment by implementing effective classroom management strategies.
  • Enforce school policies and procedures to maintain order and discipline.
  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages active student participation.
  • Address individual learning needs and differentiate instruction as needed.
  • Collaborate with other educators, administrators, and support staff to ensure seamless coordination during teacher absences.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to provide updates on student progress and behavior.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay current on educational best practices and school policies.
  • Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Adapt to different teaching styles, grade levels, and subject matters as required.
  • Respond positively to last-minute changes and adjustments.

Qualifications


Applicants should have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a substitute in an educational setting.

Applicants must possess either an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree.


In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • The ability and desire to work collaboratively on a high-functioning team.
  • Excellent people skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, as well as proper phone and email etiquette
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • The desire to be a part of a learning community
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Classroom and Zoom
  • Be adept at learning new software and technology. Working knowledge of Veracross and Canvas is an asset
  • A strong work ethic

Compensation
