QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Licensed as an RN.
2. Completed (or willing to complete) the training necessary for required services.
3. Experience working with children ages 3 through 18.

REPORTS TO: Director of Pupil Personnel
JOB GOAL: To coordinate required health services for students preschool through twelfth grade and to perform necessary health services as noted below or as required by local policy or state statutes.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

ABILITY TO:
1. Administer first aid according to established procedures

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Arrange and supervise health screenings at all schools following the schedule put out by the state (supervise parent volunteers or vocational students, follow-up on referrals, verify records completed).
2. Monitor school health problems and assist schools in solving these problems.
3. Audit of health folders in schools.
4. Contact parents/guardian/court when schools refer for a student not in compliance with health regulations.
5. Refer students to appropriate personnel, resources or clinics and follow-up as necessary.
6. Utilizing the Student Information System, maintain health records and medical logs; update immunization and student records as needed; prepare and submit periodical medical reports for appropriate organizations or district personnel and assure compliance with established laws and regulations.
7. Dispense and retain medication and perform medical treatment in accordance with physician's instructions within district guidelines.
8. Communicate with various community health agencies and civic organizations to exchange information, coordinate activities and obtain student needs such as medication, glasses, hearing aids and clothing as needed.
9. Check compliance of all schools concerning the health area.
10. Plan and coordinate CPR/First Aid training.
11. Plan and provide annual Blood Borne Pathogen training for the district.
12. Provide information and make recommendations to principals, substitutes, teachers and parents regarding health issues of students and school health program needs; develop programs to meet school health needs.
13. Maintain current knowledge of medical advances and information, public health issues and treatment procedures.
14. Assists in management of medical emergencies.
15. Supervises health services/related services to Special Education students.
16. Provides training to staff for particular health needs of Special Education students
17. Attends Admission and Release Committee meetings when requested by the Director of Special Education.
18. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT- Hourly rate, number of hours and days per year set annually by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
